We’ll hike the Council Rock and Dairy Farm Trails in Abington Township’s Lorimer Park (Lorimer Park: 183 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley PA 19006), with a climb to the top of Council Rock at the end for the more adventurous in the group. Park in the lot off Moredon Road; meet at the trailhead kiosk in the parking lot. We will begin hiking at 2pm, until *around* 4pm. Approximately 2-1/2 miles.
Please remember that mileage from this hike will count towards Pack 405’s Hiking Club requirements!
Any hike is a good time to re-enforce the “Cub Scout Six Essentials” with your Scout – we recommend that your Scout bring along a backpack with a flashlight, filled water bottle, whistle, first aid kit, sun protection and a small snack/trail food. Before we leave on the hike, we’ll take the time to review this concept, as well as Leave No Trace and general hiking etiquette.
Please remember to dress appropriately! Uniforms are not required. Hiking boots or suitable shoes are recommended.
This is a FREE event, no RSVP is required. Siblings are welcome to attend and participate provided that the activity is deemed age and ability-appropriate by parents.
Portions of Lorimer Park are off-limits to dogs. As such, we’re asking that pets remain at home for this particular hike.
